I'm a little slow in getting to the blog today (and have been for the past week). I enjoyed a slow morning, sniffling and reading in bed again. This time, Barbara Kingsolver's Prodigal Summer. I'm enjoying this book, it makes you ponder and appreciate the small things.
Like the creamy coffee color of proofed yeast, the pungent tang rising in the air.
Or the way the risen dough lets out a poof of exasperation as you punch it back down again, asking the yeast to work for just a little longer.
And the garbage man who wheels your trash cans back up your driveway... but not anyone else's... so that they won't be left behind your car.
I feel like I've been in a haze for a while; it's nice to see some of the little things again.
