A friend lent me this short but well written novel by Julie Otsuka about a Japanese family sent to an internment camp in the Utah desert in the wake of Pearl Harbor. Though a hard and sometimes provoking story, told from the perspective of each character, it is beautifully written and almost lyrical at moments.
